^^^Holy Volvulus Batman! Now that would be some kind of a twist! You may be on to something felderdidit.
You're a good candidate to check out The Missing Link thread I started earlier today. I've hit the wall about how all of this is going to come together. I'm totally clueless.

I know things happen in anger, but would Seward kill Trisha in front of Adrian? He knew the kid was in the closet. Methinks yes, it's very possible. I'm not ready to give up on Ray yet, but I don't like the comment he made to Linden before Belker and the other guards break up Linden and Seward's conversation. Linden: "Do you recognize any of these rings?" Seward: "Is that my get out of jail free card?" Don't care for Seward's smug remark. We are also assuming that Linden is reacting to Adrian's comment, "He was there that night. He was the one I saw". Look back at other previous previews. Some of the scenes are out of sequence. Is that Veena's attempt to confuse us {like we really need help being confused}.

skinner did say they may find another dump site This remark of Skinner's has me scratching my head bc. On one hand he overtook Reddick as my No. 1. But then why would he exhort his staff to find another dump site? Ashley Kwon was in one place, Angie Gower was near another -- why would he suggest there's another dump site, which, if it's really the case, could risk exposing him in the event he may have unwittingly slipped up? Is he THAT cock-sure of his talents? I guess if he's The Killer he may want to be able to pin all of his murders on Joe Mills while he has the opportunity. But if those other 4 victims are buried in a potters field, it could probably be a long time, if ever, before they'd be discovered anyway (like mizzpatti was talking about when she first brought it up). Could it be as simple as following procedure to the letter? I've got such a suspicious mind from this show that I don't know if I can think straight anymore.

mizzpatti, I'm getting whiplash from the way Ms. Sud is jerking us around about Ray! Although I suppose it's asking too much to expect a man's behavior to be consistent when he's hours away from death-by-hanging.

So, Merryone, if you're suffering over the way Ray's being jerked around, how can you possibly expect him to feel?! Don't you think we ought to cut him some slack...? Hey, I'd cut the rope out all together.
As to Veena jerking us around, well that's what she does; that's what 2 seasons' later we know we're tuning in for. But that woman's an outright sadist. S for her & M for us...

^^^poppy, ain't it the truth re: Ms. Sud?!?
As for Ray Seward, I'll just say he didn't make a very good first impression.
No, I can't leave it at that! I can easily imagine him committing a gruesome crime of passion against his wife, and later taking her wedding ring. I'm reminded of the look on his face in one of the Story Sync photos of the Seward family celibrating Adrian's first b-day. There's a pic of Ray alone, directing a hateful glare into the camera, aimed at the photog (presumably his wife). His love/hate for Trisha is one of the reasons it's hard for me to believe in his innocence. Any hatred for her when Adrian was one yr. old would've only festered over the next 5 yrs. or so.

In the preview, does anyone recognize what the blue thing is that Adrian's holding in his hands as he's saying to Linden, "He was there that night, he was the one I saw"?
Also, I've tried to place the setting of that scene -- it has a painted brick wall and vending machine in it -- but after poring over photos I can't place it.

I have a lot of problems with the concept of Skinner as the killer, assuming, ha-ha, that there is only one murderer. First, if I were a very powerful, ranking police officer who dabbled in vicious homicides in my copious spare time, who would I want investigating my crimes? A terribly flawed but insightful, tenacious, driven detective, someone who follows leads anywhere at any cost? Of course not, you would want a Reddick, a whole team of Reddicks, whose mere presence could turn an active crime scene into an instant cold case. You would assign, because you could, the most lazy, burned-out, incompetent investigators you had. You would not welcome long-lost Linden, give her a badge and a gun against any departmental protocol, and assign her to your crimes. BTW, I'd imagine the Mayor is relishing the thought of Sarah Linden back on his Police force.
Second, Skinner is a supervisor, deskbound, in charge of a division investigating major crimes. He is a spokesman to the media on such cases. It would be very difficult for him to frequent the teenage ghettos icognito, where he has no current professional reason to be, without being recognized by other officers, media members, or savvy street kids [who might enjoy dropping a dime on a police Lieutenant who tried to pick them up].
I still think, tho, that the killer will be revealed to be someone in authority, whose position brought him in contact with these teenagers. The best fit for that role is dear Twitch's lovely PO, but he is probably not a prominent enough character in this series to be the central villain.

Merry one: In next eps.preview, I think Adrian is referring to Ray when he says he was there that night , he was the one I Saw. I think that is what Linden is not best pleased about....probably wrong, I know. That's the impression I got as well BC.
