Becker arrives home to see his son Francis being escorted away in handcuffs. A dead body lies on the lawn. Henderson tells Becker his son just murdered a man Annie was seeing.
This event is full of holes. Rules of the affair game.
1.) A lover's home is off limits to the other party.
2.) Unless you're a $5 whore, most mother's would never expose their children to their lover.
3.) A lover would never be around, especially if the husband is due home any minute.
Episode 7: Hope Kills In the locker room, Becker tells Henderson that he left work early to look for his wife, who he found at a bar with another man. He adds that his son, and even the convicts, all know about his wife's adultery.
Episode 8: Try Becker's wife stops Henderson in the death row waiting room and tells him Becker hasn't been home in a couple of days. She asks for consolation but Henderson, seeing her son sitting nearby, excuses himself and leaves.
Episode 9: Reckoning Inside, Henderson learns that Becker has added him to Seward's execution team. He then gets a phone call from Annie, Becker's wife, screaming, "Francis shot him!"
So your son kills your lover and up pick up the phone and call the prison? Why are Becker and wife double teaming Henderson with all their private matters?
Could this be some sort of set-up? Becker's son looks to be 11 to 13, in other words, underage. A good attorney could probably get the kid off for murder.
Wonder if the person shot is significant in some way?
No, I have no idea what any of this means, it's just seems fishy.

It's fishy because it's full of holes (gills?), as you've noted, MizPatti.
A few asides: 1. Some postulated today that the lover could turn out to be Twitch. (As if there's only one 40 year old woman out there?) That's how desperate we are for something to make sense; we're grasping for straws. 2. Clever thinking re Henderson being played by both Becker and Annie double teamed. 3. "Rules of the affair game": save it for Utopia!

Geez, I never thought about Twitch. I figured the scene was used to show {maybe} what Ray might have done for his father {went to jail for something he didn't do, served his time without saying who did what}. Poppy: "Some postulated today" . . . someone out there thinks like I do? Poor thing, start the meds soon, it helps. I guess that could explain Twitch's rolls of cash, but how did he get into government housing so fast and then there's the pardon letter from the parole office that's nothing but lies. I hope it's not Twitch {poor Lyric}, can't Veena allow someone to have a happy ending.

I have a lot of problems with the concept of Skinner as the killer... "You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." ~ The Usual Suspects

I think I got the affair part right, but I picked the wrong spouse. Could Becker be gay, and that's his lover that's laying on the front lawn. Seward's been in and out of trouble since he was 10 years old. As someone pointed out, Becker hasn't always been over death row and he probably got his start somewhere else. What if Seward and Becker crossed paths when Ray was younger and Becker raped him. That's enough reason to hate someone. If Ray displayed the "no fear" behavior in juvy, Becker would have continue to come at him in an effort to break the child. What is more disturbing would be the fact that Seward, Sr. probably knew what was going on with his son over at juvy, but elected to look the other way {probably because Ray was taking the rap for something his father had done}. Didn't Seward, Sr. say he taught Ray a thing or two . . . to show no fear, no matter what. Do your time like a good boy and keep your mouth shut. So, was that little sign of compassion for Ray during his seizure the real Becker? Becker hasn't come home in a couple of day. Typical Veena, setting us up to believe Becker might be the Piped Piper, when in fact he's been with his lover. Is his lover Twitch?? Twitch is getting money from someone, could Becker get Twitch the parol board letter?
