"The journey of death-row inmate Ray Seward (Peter Sarsgaard) on Season 3 of The Killing has been peppered with difficult questions: Did he really murder his wife? If not, then why hasn’t he been more forthcoming about it — and who actually dunnit? And, with the clock running down toward Ray’s execution date, can Detectives Linden and Holder tie Tricia Seward’s death to the murder of at least 17 runaway girls in the Seattle area — and buy Ray some more time in the process..... anxious for answers and excited for the thrill-ride but sad it is almost over Three more episodes. Hoping for lots of back story. Just figured out where I know Joe Mills from, Syfy's Sanctuary. He played Henry. I can see why all the young girls loved him {lol}.

Ray told Linden he returned to the apartment because he wanted to take Adrian away and give him a better life, but when he returned Trisha was already dead and the sight made him leave.
Some believe it was Adrian who killed his mother. After tonight I believe Ray died thinking Adrian killed his mother and made the ultimate sacrifice to protect him.
The "Adrian Theory" doesn't add up because: 1.) I don't believe a six year old boy would have the strength to kill in the manner that Trisha was killed. If she was stabbed a couple of times I wouldn't have a problem with Adrian being the killer. 2.) Trisha's case file is on the Story Sync. It you look at the drawing of the apartment, there were bloody foot prints that showed up in the kitchen only after luminal was used. Adrian wouldn't have cleaned up some foot print and left the others. 3.) Trisha's wedding ring was found in the storage unit with all the other victims rings. Adrian didn't put his mother's ring into a cigar box that held other rings.
Someone is still coaching or threating Adrian and the child has not told the truth about what he say that night.
One thing was cleared up, Trisha was killed by the same person who killed the other girls (the rings were together). Ray mentioned a tree house. Linden will find the tree house and there's going to be some damning evidence there.

Whoa, I can't believe there are people who subscribe to the Adrian/Bad Seed theory. But I guess we were given a bit of grist for that mill when Adrian was talking with Holder about his foster mother and betrayed a bad attitude. I sure hope TK doesn't go there.

I don't buy into the bad seed theory. I believe children are a product of their surroundings, and Adrian was out of that environment by the time he was six. I can't pinpoint his behavior at the prison (angry, scared, hurt). I'm sure what he witnessed and then a week with his decomposing mother, would do some damage.
None the less, I think Ray died "thinking" Adrian killed his mother and he was giving the boy a second chance at life. Make's sense considering the life that Ray had when he was younger.
No duh's please, but was Tricia returning to her hooker ways, or did she really never stop? If so, she let her killer in the apartment that night (a cop?), he killed her, cleaned up his footprints in the kitchen and let himself out without knowing a six year old was in the closet watching the whole thing, until the police found the boy a week later.
Ray knew Adrian was in the closet when he went back to get him the night Tricia was killed, why didn't he get Adrian?

^^^ mizpatti, do you think the only reason the Seward's apt. front door was locked from the inside is to allow for the scenario that Adrian was locked in with his mom's corpse for nearly a week? Or is there any other significance, and why? In my mind, I try to imagine why Ray, when he returned for Adrian that night, left through the window. Why not the front door? Now, I can see why he may have climbed in through the window -- if the front door was bolted, he may have thought Trisha was just trying to shut him out. But why leave it bolted, knowing Adrian was in there, and climb out through the window? I suppose shock and panic could account for it, but it was a thoughtless (to say the least) thing for him to do to Adrian, especially if he was the one who cleaned up his footprints that the luminal revealed. And The Killer also had to have climbed out through the window. So that's at least one entry (Ray's) through the window and two exits (both Ray and The Killer). And The Killer turned out to be the lucky one who wasn't seen by a witness.

I thought we would have more answers with Ray's death, but his story is still full of wholes.
The facts remains the same, something happened in that apartment that night that not even a death row convict would mention . . . it's still all about protecting Adrian.
