rp3 - Yikes!!! It never occurred to me that Skinner's murder could be construed as a lover's quarrel. Oh geez. What other proof, besides Skinner giving Kallie's ring to his daughter, is there that he was the PP??? Do we know for sure that Adrian recognized him when he was following him? I guess if any bodies could be found in the lake... It could take an entire season just to rehabilitate and exonerate Linden. If she hadn't fired that second shot the show could leave the PP killings behind. But since she did, it seems as though the killings will have to be revisited in a Season 4. Although I guess a new season could begin a couple of years into the future, like this one did, and just allude to what Linden went through in the aftermath of killing Skinner...

I loved our partially broken human being Linden but Murdering Jimmy is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy past broken for me she just fought to save Rays life sheesh how will Veena repair her? Will our beloved Holder ruined by Linden i do not think the head bump was anything other than a drunk guy who was hurting he was not that into her any female there at that moment he might have done the same thing women communicate their grief with words men use sex to communicate ButterflyCheryl - As time passes since I watched the finale, I'm starting to feel a little differently about Sarah killing Skinner. That's not to say it was right -- I still wish she wouldn't have done it. But if I'd just discovered the man I'd been having an intimate, sexual relationship with (even that very day it seems) was a remorseless, murderous monster who was using me to avoid being caught, I don't know if I could control myself either. Especially in light of his taunts about Adrian, etc., and the fact that she already had a gun in her hand! I think of how tender and almost fatherly Skinner was with Linden up until the time she saw Kallie's ring -- maybe only an hour earlier. I don't know if it would be humanly possible NOT to kill him. When she said, "It's the loneliest feeling waiting to be found", she may have been alluding to how she felt until she hooked up with Skinner. In light of such a horrific betrayal, I'm revising my judgement. For now anyway!

Sorry, but I just don't foresee a fourth season, the ratings will not support it. Should they approve it, the numbers will drop to the 1 million redzone for AMC, because, from what I've seen online, not too many people liked the last minute of the finale. Plus, there's just no way to happily and satisfactorily bring back Sarah's character. Since she has Skinner's gun, they could say he shot at her and she returned fire. But she shot him in the head the second time, if I saw it correctly. No IAD agent will look past that point, even if Skinner was The Pied Piper. I do not want another agonizing season of secrecy and lies from our two leads. The Skinner affair almost made me quit watching two months ago, this just might stop me from watching again.

Yes ButterflyCheryl, she was wrong. What a mess. And Genius, I think you're right too. The whole Skinner angle was ill-conceived. The writers could've done a gripping serial killer story without the over-the-top Skinner-Linden dynamic. What on earth were they thinking? And to finish it off as they did, they finished off Sarah too. It's probably buh bye for TK. One reason I didn't think The Killer would turn out to be Skinner was for this very reason. Plus, his name. I didn't think the character with the most sinister-sounding name would turn out to be the PP!!! Why didn't they just go ahead and call him Jack Ripper? Or Ira Fingerman? Geez.

Genius, I cannot express how much I agree with you. I cannot see how this show can have a successful renewal after it shot itself in the foot in the finale.

Some Loose Ends
Maybe there's no interest at this point, but I'm wondering if anyone knows:
Why did Skinner put the Picasso drawing on Linden's fridge in Season 2? From what we learned in Season 3, he did everything he could to steer her away from investigating his crimes. So why would he, while she was on the Larsen case, draw attention to the dump site?
If Ray Seward knew Skinner killed his wife, and was keeping quiet in order to protect Adrian, why did he forego the appeals process which would've taken years (I've read death penalty appeals can last as long as 14 years)? It seems to me Adrian was safer as long as Ray was alive.

i guess if we want to say we did not like the finale we have to come here to say it so unsatisfying to see the SK basically get exactly what he wanted in the end,an easy exit from life,no accountability merryone-- the whys will never be answered in our lifetime the whole Ray story line made no sense in the end Ray hid nada he had no clue it was Skinner who killed his wife no clear answer on picasso pic

IF there's a Season 4 (doubtful, according to Genius' comparative analysis of ratings), maybe Reddick's remarks to Holder -- that he's old school and doesn't believe cops should rat on cops -- could be a clue to how the fiasco will be handled.
I don't necessarily believe that what Linden did would destroy Holder, especially since Skinner murdered Bullet. Holder had his own bout of temporary insanity due to his misperception about Reddick. It was probably not for nothing that earlier in the finale he was delighted to discover that Sarah was human after all.
Linden may go rogue at times but Skinner was a monstrous, remorseless King of the Rogues ("I don't need excuses", "Maybe, maybe" I'm a monster).
Even if Linden's second shot hit Skinner in the head, it was dark!
More bodies could be found in the lake. Skinner's confidence that other dump sites will never be discovered could be totally unfounded. After all, the pond was discovered, he was dead wrong to think he'd successfully pulled off framing Joe Mills, and he was caught in the end.
On balance, SPD could be relieved that Skinner's adjudication won't happen, sparing it years of painful headlines in the news. Sarah will be put on leave as a matter of course and will hopefully get effective counseling. Holder may have even more incentive to straighten up, be a good cop, and make it work with Caroline.
It's doable.

Veena basically said on Inside Ep 12 they won't cover up the murder they know they can't hide it (paraphrasing) Holder talked about his moral compass
